Past interview subjects Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type recently lit up the Tank Room. They are one of my favorite KC bands and always put on a killer live show. Rachel was also my most frequent live guest of 2016. I covered the show for X1051. Check out a blazing live version of their old school song “Razorback.”
Up-and-coming Kansas City-based band Mess recently smashed the Tank Room with a rocking set of shoegaze and post punk vibes. I covered the show for X1051. I went into the show knowing nothing about them and was completely blown away. It was one of the best sets I’ve seen in 6 months. Check out this live video of the epic, sprawling sounds of Mess.
Mike Doughty “Bus to Beelzebub” “How Many Cans?” and “So Far I Have Not Found the Science” Live at RecordBarFebruary 21, 2017
Past interview subject Mike Doughty recently hit the RecordBar. Backed by Wheatus and his own band, Doughty crushed a set mixing new songs, older solo material and Soul Coughing classics. Mike Doughty is a poet and the way he uses words in his songs help make them enthralling. Doughty never plays the same set twice, so it’s always fun to see where they take the songs. I covered the show for X1051. Check out these blistering live performances of “Bus to Beelzebub,” “How Many Cans?” and “So Far I Have Not Found the Science.”
