I recently sat down with Kansas City-based keyboardist/synth player Jesse Bartmess for a live interview. Jesse is the keyboardist for Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type and records solo, ambient music as Sinple. His latest release is the album Music For Machines. I caught up with Jesse after his set with Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type, playing a sold out show at RecordBar with the Greeting Committee. We discussed his approach to solo recording, inspiration behind the album and passion for ambient music.

Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type at RecordBar, 5/11/17
Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type recently crushed their set at a sold out RecordBar. It was the last date on their tour with the Greeting Committee. It is wonderful to see two of Kansas City’s best bands touring together, bringing those real KC vibes to people around the country. “White Girls” was my favorite song of 2016. Rachel is a past interview subject of mine and was my most frequent live guest of last year. Check out this live version of the excellent “White Girls.”
