DJ Shadow, the legendary California-based DJ and producer, recently smashed Kansas City with a two-hour set at the Madrid Theatre. The show was a career-spanning journey. The visuals were trippy and the mixing was top level. It was one of the best gigs of the year. Shadow is the best at what he does. Check out the glory of DJ Shadow in the mix in KC:
George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic at Boulevardia 2017, 6/16/17
The legendary George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic recently crushed a set at Boulevardia 2017. The band played six songs during their hour-long set. It was the best show I saw all weekend. Check out these gloriously funky vibes.
I recently sat down with Kansas City-based keyboardist/synth player Jesse Bartmess for a live interview. Jesse is the keyboardist for Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type and records solo, ambient music as Sinple. His latest release is the album Music For Machines. I caught up with Jesse after his set with Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type, playing a sold out show at RecordBar with the Greeting Committee. We discussed his approach to solo recording, inspiration behind the album and passion for ambient music.
The Greeting Committee recently rocked a sold out show at RecordBar. The Kansas City-based band are past interview subjects and their song “Hands Down” has received over 5,000,000 plays on Spotify. Check out this live version of “Hands Down.”
