The Orwells at RecordBar, 3/20/17
The Orwells recently smashed RecordBar with their hard-hitting garage rock. The Chicago-based band unleashed a 90-minute set whipped the crowd into a frenzy. It was one of the hardest rocking RecordBar crowds I’ve ever seen. Check out these blistering performances of “Fry” and “Let It Burn.”

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness at the KC Live Block, 3/17/17
Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness delivered a quality 90 minute set at the KC Live Block on St. Patrick’s Day. Check out this live performance of the Jack’s Mannequin classic “Dark Blue.”
The night was rowdy and fun. He is still a great, passionate songwriter. Here’s a short clip of McMahon crowd surfing on a duck:

Dreamers at RecordBar, 3/14/17
Dreamers recently beasted RecordBar with a blazing set of indie rock vibes. It is always nice to see an indie rock power trio. It was drummer Jacob Wick’s birthday and the band was in party mode all night. The Griswolds drummer Lachlan West sat in “DRUGS” and “Sweet Disaster. ” Check out rocking version of “Never Too Late to Dance,” “DRUGS” and “Sweet Disaster.”

Slothrust at Alamo Drafthouse KC, 3/14/17
Slothrust recently performed an acoustic set at Alamo Drafthouse KC. It’s always nice when bands can still bring the energy at 8:30 in the morning. Check out these stripped down versions of “7:30 AM” and “Rotten Pumpkin.”

Conor Oberst at the Madrid Theatre, 3/10/17
Indie legend Conor Oberst recently played a set to a packed Madrid Theatre. I covered the show for X1051. Backed by the Felice Brothers, Oberst’s show focused on new material, but also included a few Bright Eyes classics. The Felice Brothers really helped Oberst’s tunes to have a more full-bodied sound. Check out this live version of “Afterthought.”
